Wiltshire’s Railway Heritage

The Railway is part of Wiltshire’s history, with the Swindon Locomotive Works being the heart of the legendary Great Western Railway producing many steam and later diesel trains that ran in the country.

Today the county remains well connected with the Great Western Mainline connecting London Paddington with Swindon, Chippenham and the north of the county, along with services also calling at Pewsey and Westbury.

The south of the county has links to London Waterloo and Exeter, calling at Salisbury and Tisbury. Crossing the county from North to South, trains travel from the South Coast to South Wales, connecting Warminster, Westbury, Trowbridge and Bradford-on-Avon.
